Santiago Vila Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Santiago Vila) (IATA: GIR, ICAO: SKGI) is an airport serving Girardot, a town in the Cundinamarca Department of Colombia. It is located 3.1 kilometres (2 mi) from Girardot, in the town of Flandes in the Tolima Department.
Facilities
The airport resides at an elevation of 900 feet (274 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 01/19 with an asphalt surface measuring 5,249 by 92 feet (1,600 m × 28 m).[1]
Accidents and incidents
On 12 December 1982, Douglas C-47A HK-2580 of Transportes Aéreas Latinamericas crashed at Santiago Vila Airport while on a training flight destined to land at Mariquita Airport. One of the four people on board was killed.[3]
