- 2nd Test (Sydney) South Africa won by 5 runs
- 3rd Test (Adelaide) Australia won by 191 runs
South Africa also competed in a tri nation ODI tournament involving Australia and New Zealand they won 3 of their 8 round robin matches but qualified to the final via a better Net run rate than New Zealand. In the best of three final with Australia they lost 2-1 despite having won the first match.
