Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education

A Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) is a body which advises local authorities in England and Wales on the content which should be included in religious education teaching at state schools.
Each SACRE is composed Christians and other religious denominations, the Church of England (except in Wales), teachers' associations and elected councillors.[1]
History
SACREs were introduced in 1988 by the Education Reform Act.[2]
