The streaked spinefoot (Siganus javus) is a species of rabbitfish. Like all rabbitfishes, it has venomous spines on the dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins. It is a herbivore, feeding mostly on algae in shallow, coastal waters, brackish lagoons, and rocky or coral reefs. It is found throughout most of the Indo-Pacific region, in groups usually consisting of around 10. It has an adult size ranging between 25 and (large males) 55 cm. It inhabits shallow waters between 2 and 20 m deep.
