Tanaya Beatty is a First Nations and Himalayan actress. She is known for her role as Rachel Black in the movie adaption of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 as well as her starring roles as Jessica Finch in True Justice, as Caitlin Javier on the hit Canada television series, Arctic Air and the titular role of Sacagawea in the upcoming HBO miniseries, Lewis and Clark.[1]
Early life
Tanaya Beatty was born on February 12, 1991 in Vancouver, Canada. Beatty's mother is of First Nations descent and her father of Himalayan descent, but was adopted and raised by an Italian family.[2] Beatty spent her childhood living in the interior of British Columbia, including Midway, Nelson, and Grand Forks.[2]
Career
In December 2010, Beatty graduated from the Vancouver Film School, successfully completing the full-time Essentials and Acting Program.[2] Prior to this, she earned a certificate from a social work program.[2]
Beatty has been included in the group of Native American actresses considered with "both the talent and the beauty to be an A-List",[3] and was cast in the role of Sacagawea for the upcoming HBO miniseries, Lewis and Clark.[4][1][5][6]
