The Acres, also known as Galesburg Country Homes, is a naturalistic residential plat designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Charleston Township, Michigan. Established as a co-op in 1949 by a group of scientists from the Upjohn pharmaceutical company, the district contains four Wright designed Usonian homes and the Günther and Anne Fonken House designed by Taliesin School fellow Francis "Will" Willsey.[2] The Acres consists of 70 acres with each home built on a 1-acre (4,000 m2) circular lot. The plat was designed to have 21 homes built on it with 50 acres of open land for community use that also included a 3 acre pond. On May 19th 2004 The Acres was granted historical status and was placed on the National Register of Historical Places.
