Thrissur Urban Agglomeration (TUA) is a city area consisting of city of Thrissur and its adjoining Municipalities and Panchayats. It has a metropolitan population of 1,854,783 including 876,049 males and 978,734 females in Census 2011 and in Census 2001, it had a population of 330,122. The area consists of Thrissur Municipal Corporation and five Municipalities of Wadakanchery, Kunnamkulam, Guruvayur, Chavakkad, Irinjalakuda, and Kodungallur.[1]

History

The area of Thrissur Urban Agglomeration in 1991 was 88.42 square kilometres, in 1996 it was 88,42 square kilometres and in 2001 it was 120.26 square kilometres.[2]
