UTV Internet was part of UTV Media plc, the owners of the ITV franchise in Northern Ireland. Internet services were available in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Services could also be accessed in Great Britain, and although UTV did not advertise directly to these customers, the relevant section of the website was entitled Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.[1]

UTV provided a number of Fiber-Optic and ADSL based Broadband options, in addition to dial-up Internet for Residential and Business Customers. Along with Internet Access, UTV also provided a number of other services including Web design, Web Hosting, and Domain Registration.

In 2014, UTV sold this division to Rainbow Communications and Vodafone Ireland.[1]

History

UTV Internet arose out of the March 2000 purchase (for £4.4m) and rebranding of Direct Net Access. DN@ had been one of Northern Ireland's first consumer-focussed ISPs, gaining much awareness through its partnership with local retailer Computastore and its offer of a free modem when you signed up for 12 months' service.
