History
Opened in 1977, it was the first purpose built Conference Centre in the UK. Events included conferences, corporate hospitality, annual general meetings, banquets and sports events including snooker tournaments.
On May 7 1977, it hosted the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest.
October 18, 1977, it hosted the first ever BRIT awards which was called the 1977 BPI Awards.
It provided a filming location for the 1979 Blake's 7 episode "Voice from the Past".
Between 1979 to 2006, it hosted Masters snooker.
On August 30 1995, it hosted the first ever National Television Awards presented by Eamonn Holmes
It hosted three Ricky Hatton boxing matches where he was victorious. October 21st 2000, he defeated fellow Brit Jon Thaxton by unanimous decision, In March 26th, 2001, he defeated Canadian Tony Pep with a fourth round TKO two and a half minutes in and in December 15th, 2001, he defeated Australian Justin Rowsell with a second round TKO with thirty six seconds to go.
Between July 10, 2004 and April 22, 2006, it hosted ten Cage Rage events.
