Yakuake (Yet Another Kuake) is a KDE terminal emulator. Its design was inspired from consoles in computer games such as Quake which slide down from the top of the screen when a key is pressed, and slide back up when the key is pressed again. It supports skinning, split viewing, and profiles, as Konsole does.
Yakuake, in the same way as Kate, KDevelop and Konqueror, relies on Konsole to offer the terminal functionality, embedding it in the application as a KPart component.
As of July 2014 Yakuake, Konsole, Dolphin, Kate and KDE Telepathy are in the process of being ported to KDE Frameworks 5.[1]
