Yeshayahu (Shaike) Gavish (Hebrew: ישעיהו גביש, August 25, 1925) was an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) general known for leading the Isareli forces at the Sinai front in the Six Day war.
Military career
Formerly, Gavish fought in the Palmach under Yigal Allon.[1]
Between 1965-1969, he was commander of the Southern Israeli command.[2] During his tenure, he led the Israeli offensive on the Egyptian forces in Sinai during the Six Day War. Although the campaign was successful, his subordinates at the campaign, Israel Tal; Avraham Yoffe; Ariel Sharon, got more fame than him.
