"It Feels So Good" is a song by British recording artist Sonique. It was first released in December 1998 and reached number 24 in the UK,[2] and then it was re-released in May 2000, where it spent three weeks at number one in the United Kingdom. The song remained in the Top 40 for 14 weeks, and became the third-biggest selling single of 2000 in Britain. It has sold over 700,000 copies in the UK as of October 2014.[3]

The song also proved successful in many other countries, including the United States, where some repeated radio airplay in Florida helped it to reach #8[4][5] and led her to sign with Republic Records.[6] Furthermore, The Guinness Book of Records announced that she was the first British female solo artist to be number one for three consecutive weeks since Kate Bush in 1978.[2]

Background and content

Sonique said of the song, "It's about this guy whom I really liked years ago, but who didn't return my feelings. For he was very successful and I wasn't - at that time. And he thought that I was in love with his success. This song is just a way of declaring that it was him I liked."[7]

Music video

One of two music videos was directed by Tim Story and premiered in February 2000.[8]
