Kahna Dhesian is a village near Rurka Kalan, Tehsil Phillaur, Jalandhar district, in Punjab, India.

Demographics

According to the 2001 Census, Kahna Dhesian has a population of 2,472 people. Neighbouring villages include Nathewal, Dhinpur, Raj Gomal, Rurka Kalan, Bundala, Pandori Musharkati and Dhani Pind.

History

It is said that the villages of Kahna Dhesian and Sang Dhesian were settled by members of the same family. Accordingly, the villages share the Dhesi surname. It is believed that Kahna Dhesian was settled over 600 years ago. it is learnt that Bhai kahna and Bhai Sang of Dhesian clan were brothers and spiritual giants. on refusal of Guru Arjan Dev to enter words of Bhai Kahna to Shri Guru Granth Sahib being unsuitable, he is said to have fallen from grace and requested his Brother Bhai Sang for reconciliation with Guru Ji. Guru Ji agreed on condition that he will hold satsang at Kahna Dhesian but his redeeming will by some one in early twentieth century, i.e. Sant Baba Tarlok Singh. The head of the village was Daya Kaur Dhesi.[citation needed]

The village has a Gurudwara Baba Shaheed, Mata Da Mandir, Mandir Baba Balak Nath and Baba Sahib Teli. The village is also the birthplace of Shaheed Sohan Singh Dhesi. There is one Primary School and one Senior Secondary School.

Kahna Dhesian is connected by road with nearby cities of Goraya, Phagwara and the village/town of Jandiala.
