Margaret Tor-Thompson

Margaret Tor-Thompson (c. 1962 – 4 April 2007) was a Liberian politician and member of the Freedom Alliance Party of Liberia (FAPL). She was trained in Biblical Studies and was an influential activist during the Liberian Civil War.[clarification needed][1][2]

Running as the FAPL presidential candidate in the October 2005 elections, Tor-Thompson placed 13th out of 22 candidates, receiving only 0.9% of the vote.[3] She was one of two female presidential candidates in the election, the other being the winner, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Death

In late April 2007, it was reported that she was dying of breast cancer.[4] She died on 4 May 2007 on Bushrod Island, outside Monrovia.[5]
