MoD Abbey Wood is a purpose-built site in Filton, Bristol, United Kingdom, that houses the Defence Equipment and Support procurement organisation.

The building project involved over 130,000 m² of buildings including offices, restaurants, library, sports facilities, training rooms, auditoria and conferences rooms, support facilities and a crèche together with landscaping and external works on a 98-acre (400,000 m2) site.[1]

The facility was opened in 1996 and MoD Procurement Executive departments from across the UK, mainly London, relocated to the new facility. Subsequently further consolidation to the site has occurred. The site manages procurement contracts for the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force.

Abbey Wood is the largest MoD site in the UK with 7,000 staff – rising to 10,300 by 2012 with the opening of new buildings nearby.[2]

Transport

The site is served by a rail station, Filton Abbey Wood, situated on the Cross Country Route between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway, just off the South Wales Main Line south of Patchway.

There are local bus services close by. Stagecoach West also runs a high-quality peak-time commuter coach service to and from Gloucester, (stopping at Quedgeley & City Centre), under the name of Belles Express.
