Parotodus is an extinct genus of mackerel shark belonging to the family Otodontidae.[1]

Fossil records

This genus is known in the fossil records from the Eocene[2] to the Quaternary (age range: from 15.97 to 0.781 million years ago). Fossils are found in the marine strata of Italy, Madagascar, Spain, Egypt,[2] Japan, Malta and United States.[3]
