Payson High School is a high school located in the rural town of Payson, Arizona. It has approximately 750 students.

The Payson Longhorns are well known for their wrestling program with legend Dennis Pirch as longtime coach, R.C. LaHaye who is now Grand Canyon University Wrestling Coach is a former three-time state champion from Payson.

Payson won the 3A State Championship in Boys Track and Field in 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991 and 2006. Dan Reid was the head coach from 1987-1991 with Chuck Hardt the head coach in 2006. Payson won the 3A State championship in Girls Track and Field in 1999, 2000, and 2001 under coach Chuck Hardt who was also the coach for the 2001 3A State champion Girls Cross-country team. Payson also won the State Championship in football in 1977, 1981, 1998, and in 2008. Payson won a 3A State Championship in baseball in 1999. Payson won a 3A State Championship in Golf in 2001. Payson High School's Modern Choir performed in Carnegie Hall in June 2007.

Courses

Many areas of practical education course are covered at Payson High School. Vocational courses include Autos, Home Economics, Business, Band, Chorus, Drama, IC3 and A+ Computer Certification.

Core classes are, as always, a part of the educational experience. Math, Science, English and History are all subjects covered extensively.
