Pure Gold is a 1975 compilation album by Elvis Presley released as part of the RCA Records budget "Pure Gold" series of albums. Though at this point in his career Presley was focused more on the country music market, where he had a string of chart-topping records in recent years, this collection focuses more on earlier material than recent hits. Considered a rather mediocre compilation album in terms of both content and sound quality, Pure Gold nevertheless sold very well in the wake of Elvis' death in August 1977.

Content

"Kentucky Rain", "Fever", "It's Impossible", and "In The Ghetto" are true stereo mixes. All other tracks are in "electronically reprocessed" stereo. When this album was eventually issued on CD in the early 1990s, the 6 songs from the 1950s were restored to original monaural sound. It was certified Gold on September 12, 1977, Platinum on March 20, 1988 and 2x Platinum on March 27, 1992 by the RIAA.

The front cover photo features Elvis from his Aloha from Hawaii concert in 1973.
