Rogers Monday Night Hockey is the branding used for National Hockey League (NHL) regular season games airing on Monday nights on Sportsnet as part of its national broadcast rights to the league. The format debuted on October 17, 2022, replacing its Rogers Hometown Hockey format that aired from October 12, 2014 to April 25, 2022.
History
On June 28, 2022, Rogers announced that it had cancelled its Hometown Hockey format after eight seasons. Hometown Hockey featured a pre-game show and studio segments hosted by Ron MacLean from different Canadian cities, and profiling their local players and hockey communities.[1] The games were originally carried by Citytv during its inaugural season,[2] before moving exclusively to Sportsnet.[3][4] Hometown Hockey also originally aired on Sunday nights before moving to Monday night in 2021.[5]
The Rogers Monday Night Hockey package is hosted by David Amber, and debuted on October 17, 2022, with three games: the Arizona Coyotes taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Pittsburgh Penguins going against the Montreal Canadiens, and the Vancouver Cauncks at Washingtion Capitals. The telecasts place a focus on additional analytics via the NHL's player and puck tracking system, and includes an alternate feed for selected games on Sportsnet Now featuring additional on-screen statistics.[6][7]
