The Magdala, also known as Magdala Tavern, is a public house on South Hill Park in Hampstead. It was the first building in this road and existed in 1868 when it was named after the British victory in the Battle of Magdala.[1][2] It later became famous as the place where Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be executed in Great Britain, shot her boyfriend in 1955 and bullet holes are still said to be visible in the walls.[3]
