Val Hale

Val Hale (born 1958) was the athletic director of Brigham Young University (BYU) from 1999 to 2004.

Hale was raised in Orem, Utah graduating from Orem High School. He then attended BYU where he received bachelors and masters degrees in communications. He worked as a reporter and columnist for the Provo Daily Herald. He later worked at BYU in marketing and later as men's athletic director. Hale succeeded Rondo Fehlberg as director of men's athletics at BYU. After he left BYU in 2004 he became assistant vice president of external affairs at Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University).

Hale and his wife Nancy are the parents of three married children.
