Walter Mooney (birth registered January→March 1892[1] — death registered January→March 1958 (aged 65)[2]) birth registered in Leigh district, was a professional rugby league footballer of the 1920s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and at club level for Leigh, as a Stand-off/Five-eighth, i.e. number 6, his death was registered in Leigh district.

Walter Mooney won caps for Great Britain while at Leigh in 1924 against New Zealand (2 matches).[3]

County Cup Final Appearances

Walter Mooney played, and scored a conversion, in Leigh's 2-20 defeat by Wigan in the 1922 Lancashire Cup final during the 1922–23 season at The Willows, Salford on Saturday 25 November 1922.[4]
