Chundawats are a Rajput clan and were powerful chiefs in the Mewar region during the 1700s.[1]

The Chundawats descend from Chunda (or Choonda), a son of Mewar's ruler Lakha Singh. Chunda was the crown prince, but the throne of Mewar ultimately went to his step-brother Mokal Singh. The Chundawats later became rivals of Shaktawats, the descendants of Mokal Singh through Shakti Singh (or Sakta).
