Willi Ascherfeld
Willi Ascherfeld (21 March 1910 – KIA 13 April 1945) was a German Hauptmann der Reserve in the Grenadiere or Wehrmacht during World War II.
Ascherfeld was born on 21 March 1910 in Nierenhof in Hattingen on the Ruhr and joined on the 27 August 1939, in the course of mobilization, the 5th company of the infantry regiment of 172. After participating in the invasion of France, he is according to the message from the 8 December 1940 to the 2nd company of the infantry regiment 508, where he was promoted to the 19 April 1941 to the Lieutenant of the reserve. On 1 July 1941 he is transferred from the Department of Defense propaganda of the OKW propaganda company 695, the 15th army where he was promoted to the 1 September 1942 to the first lieutenant of the reserve. After change in the staff of the infantry replacement battalion 397 or in the staff of the country protect Regiment 37, he is Commander of the II battalion of the Grenadier Regiment 926 and as such promoted the 1 August 1944 captain of the reserve. After January 1945 East Prussia was cut off from the Empire and the 5th Soviet Army reached the pregolya River between Wehlau and Allenburg, 286th Infantry Division should the town Königsberg as extreme left wing on the Vistula Lagoon, cover against the 43rd Soviet Army. Ash field fighting for Labiau and was at the evacuation of the city in. For these fights, he received the Knight's Cross on 14 February 1945. After the Division in room Neukuhren, comes to the 13 April 1945 in the bar of the I. battalion of the Grenadier Regiment 931 Willi Mathew field and falls on the same day at the breaking up of the Division in the fighting compartment Neukuhren.
