Miss World 1983, the 33rd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 17 November 1983 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. The winner was Sarah-Jane Hutt from United Kingdom. She was crowned by Miss World 1982, Mariasela Álvarez of Dominican Republic. First runner-up was Rocío Isabel Luna representing Colombia and second runner-up was Cátia Pedrosa from Brazil.

Historical significance
- Sarah-Jane Hutt of United Kingdom became the fifth British woman to win the Miss World title.
- This is the first time that the scores from the judges were shown in the preliminary swimsuit segment through electronic voting.
- This is the first time that the award winners for Africa and Oceania did not make it into the semi-finals.
- 10 out of 15 countries which made it into the semi-finals, were not in the semi-finals last year: Holland (1977), Panama (1979), Austria and Israel (1980), and Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, and Jamaica (1981). Hong Kong and Iceland had made into the semi-finals for the first time. Iceland marked its debut in 1955, while Hong Kong in 1959.
- Hong Kong and Malaysia became actresses in box-office movies after they competed in Miss World.
- Mercedes Stermitz of Austria had a career as a racing driver following Miss World, competing mostly in German series.
- Titi Dwi Jayati of Indonesia now is a singing diva in Indonesia and also being one of the judges of Indonesian Idol for 5 seasons.
- Carolina del Valle Cerruti Duijm of Venezuela is the daughter of Miss World 1955, Susana Duijm.
- Unnur Steinsson of Iceland is the mother of Miss World 2005, Unnur Birna Vilhjalmsdottir.
