Plot

During the Western Han Dynasty, a girl named Yun Ge rescued a boy whom she knew as Ling Gege and gave him an embroidered shoe. Knowing that an embroidered shoe symbolizes engagement, Ling Gege accepted it and told her to find him in Chang'an, the capital of Han dynasty. Yun Ge, now grown up, comes to the Han dynasty and mistakes Liu Bingyi, the sole survivor of his family after his family's throne is overthrown, as her Ling Gege. Yun Ge was heartbroken when Liu Bingyi did not remember her and married his childhood friend, Xu Ping Jun. Then, she falls in love with Meng Jue, an elegant and wealthy gentleman in Chang'an. However, Meng Jue's relationship with Huo Cheng Jun, the daughter of Great General Huo, breaks Yun Ge's heart and causes her to leave Chang'an. On her way back to Xi Yu, she meets Liu Fu Ling, the real Ling Gege from her childhood. When Yun Ge finds out that she mistook Liu Bingyi as Ling Gege and feels guilty that she devoted herself to Meng Jue instead, she decides to run away. When both Liu Fu Ling and Meng Jue chase after Yun Ge, she finds out that Liu Fu Ling was an emperor of the Han dynasty. She then accidentally hurts Meng Jue with a knife and then falls from a cliff. Later, she pretends to lose her memory and while Liu Fu Ling is aware of that, he continues to treat her well. Liu Fu Ling then asks Yun Ge to spend one year with him, and after that one year, she can leave. Yun Ge agrees. Soon, the king falls ill and dies. Yun Ge is then kidnapped by Huo Cheng Jun. Meng Jue comes to save Yun Ge and also finds out that Yun Ge is pregnant. Cheng Jun then orders Meng Jue to kill the child, and he later proceeds to kill the child.
