The 2015–16 season is Milton Keynes Dons's first season in the Championship, after gaining promotion the previous season, in their twelve years since renaming.[1] Along with competing in the Championship, the club also participated in the FA Cup and League Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016.

Competitions

Pre-season friendlies

On 13 May 2015, Milton Keynes Dons confirmed they will face Chesham United in a pre-season friendly on 20 July 2015.[28] On 27 May 2015, a friendly against Brackley Town was announced for 30 July 2015.[29] Two days later, Milton Keynes Dons announced two more friendlies against Newport Pagnell Town and Buckingham Athletic.[30] Also confirmed on 29 May 2015, was a trip to Barnet on 25 July 2015.[31] On 10 June 2015, Mansfield Town were the latest addition to the pre-season schedule.[32] On 29 June 2015, MK confirmed three friendlies for their Republic of Ireland trip.[33] On 1 July 2015, Dons announced a further two pre-season friendlies against a La Liga side and a Premier League XI side.[34] On 21 July 2015, MK announced they will travel to Rochdale on 1 August 2015.[35]

FA Cup

Being a Championship side, Milton Keynes Dons entered the FA Cup in the third round proper. A total of 64 teams play in this round: 44 teams from Premier League and Football League Championship which entered in this round, and the 20 winners of the previous round. The draw was held on 7 December 2015.[37] The draw for the fourth round proper was held on 11 January 2016.[38]

League Cup

On 16 June 2015, the first round draw was made, Milton Keynes Dons were drawn at home against Leyton Orient.[39] In the second, MK Dons were again at home drawn against Cardiff City.[40] The third round draw was made on 25 August 2015 live on Sky Sports by Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson. MK Dons were at home to Southampton.[41]

Berks & Bucks Senior Cup

The first round details were announced on the BBFA website. MK Dons will face Didcot Town in the first round.[42]
