The 2020 Baltimore Orioles season was the 120th season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 67th in Baltimore, and the 29th at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They will try to improve on their 54–108 (.333) record from 2019, and focus on rebuilding for the future.[citation needed] By losing their 31st game on September 19, the Orioles ensured yet another sub-.500 season, their 4th straight.[citation needed]

On March 12, 2020, MLB announced that because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the regular season would be delayed by at least two weeks in addition to the remainder of spring training being cancelled.[1] Four days later, it was announced that the start of the season would be pushed back indefinitely due to the recommendation made by the CDC to restrict events of more than 50 people for eight weeks.[2] On June 23, commissioner Rob Manfred unilaterally implemented a 60-game season. Players reported to training camps on July 1 in order to resume spring training and prepare for a July 24 Opening Day.[3]

COVID-19 Outbreak

On July 27, 2020, both away games against the Miami Marlins were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, because there was a COVID outbreak in the Miami Marlins organization, and later the Orioles’ home games were also postponed. As a result, the Orioles played the New York Yankees on July 29–30.
